Simon Langton Girls School enjoyed an interactive Careers Fair on Wednesday 20th March 2013 with many Kent & Medway STEM Ambassadors supporting.
The school submitted a STEM Ambassador Request Form and asked for volunteers who could; promote industries to students, match skills to industries, help students to consider GCSE, A level and Degree options and give them an awareness of apprenticeships by running an interactive stall.
STEM Ambassador Brian Dury had a Making Torches Stand at the careers fair.

I attended the Careers Fair at Simon Langton Girls Grammar School as it was an excellent opportunity to promote a career in engineering and technology. As the Schools Liaison Officer for the Kent & Medway area of the Institution of Engineering Technology I like to support such events to encourage students to consider this career choice. To rebalance the economy the UK needs to address the severe skill shortage in this field. It has been estimated that some 100,000 STEM graduates are required each year to meet the demand. I found the event to be extremely well organised and from the moment of my arrival it was obvious that the School had put a lot of effort into ensuring the day was a great success. It was a very happy and enthusiastic atmosphere through the whole day and my stand was continuously very busy with interested students.
