Petrochemicals are a limited resource and are likely to become scarce in future.

How can we power future aircrafts?

Can we come up with a more sustainable model?

Brief: Design a passenger aircraft that could operate without the use of petrochemicals.

Criteria: The aircraft must:

  • Use a sustainable alternative to petrochemicals to provide the thrust needed for flight.
  • Make use of appropriate new and/or modern materials.
  • Be aesthetically appealing.

Sketch and annotate your design ideas, and choose one to present. Once you have come up with your final annotated design with a brief explanation, email it to askanambassador@canterbury.ac.uk to get feedback from a STEM Ambassador with expertise in this area.
