Camouflaged Creatures

Corina want to know HOW animals camouflage! How do they choose a colour or pattern?
Think about the different types of camouflage that animals use - why have they chosen this camouflage? Let’s put it to the test!
You will Need:
- a butterfly shape cut from brown or grey paper, or colour your own!
- some string
What to Do:
Try putting your butterflies in different locations.
Some animals, such as snakes, use patterns to hide. Others, like stick insects, use their shape to try to stay hidden. There are other ways of camouflaging as well.
We would love to see some photographs of your camouflage creatures! Create an effective camouflage, and try to trick us! Send your photos to askanambassador@canterbury.ac.uk to test an expert, or tag us on Twitter @KentMedwaySTEM
