The Big Bang at Schools programme is aimed at young people aged 11-14, particularly those from groups underrepresented in science and engineering. Run by EngineeringUK and supported by The STEM Hub, this initiative offers schools the chance to apply for a bursary to create an engaging and enjoyable Big Bang at School event. Successful applicants can host an inspiring STEM day featuring exciting science and engineering activities, workshops, and project work.

Please note that the application process for 2024/2025 closed on 31 July. Look out for updates on the 2025/2026 programme

However, you can still apply for the Blueprint programme, which provides insights and connections to help your school organise its own STEM event, launching an extraordinary journey for your students. Support and guidance will be offered to ensure your event is both memorable and worthwhile. The deadline has been extended to 31 January 2025, so be sure to secure your place by visiting the Big Bang at School Application page

Did you know your school can also participate in The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition, which is free and open to young people in the UK aged 11 to 18 in state-funded secondary education, those who are home-educated, or those entering as part of a community group. Competitors can enter one project individually or as part of a team. The Big Bang Competition is now open for entries at https://www.thebigbang.org.uk/the-big-bang-competition/. Submit your project by 26 March.
