The Big Bang at Schools Blueprint programme is aimed at young people aged 11-14, particularly those from groups under-represented in science and engineering.

Run by EngineeringUK and supported by The STEM Hub, this initiative offers schools the chance to apply for a £500 bursary to create an engaging and enjoyable Big Bang at School event. Successful applicants can host an inspiring STEM day featuring exciting science and engineering activities, workshops, and project work.

The Blueprint programme provides insights and connections to help your school organise your own STEM event, launching an extraordinary journey for your students. We offer support and guidance to ensure your event is both memorable and worthwhile.

If you are not successful with your teacher-led at School Blueprint programme application, for academic year 24/25 which closed on 31 July, schools can still apply to be part of the Blueprint programme up until 30 September. Places are limited, so apply by 30 September 2024 to secure your place: Big Bang at School Application.

Your school can also participate in The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition, which is free and open to young people in the UK aged 11 to 18 in state-funded secondary education, those who are home educated, or those entering as part of a community group. Competitors can enter one project individually or as part of a team.

The Big Bang Competition isn’t open yet, but you can get a head start by signing up for EngineeringUK’s newsletter to be the first to know when it opens.
