Celebrate British Science Week and join Ben, a Senior Mechanical Engineer at The Pirbright Institute, one of the UK’s leading research centres dedicated to animal infectious diseases.

Ben is responsible for making sure the Institute’s high-tech safety and containment systems work exactly as they should, protecting both the scientists on site and the wider community. His job combines engineering with cutting-edge research, helping to adapt and improve complex systems that support important scientific work.

He will also share his career journey, giving practical insights into engineering roles within science and what it takes to build a successful and rewarding career in innovation, while supporting research that protects animal and global health.

This live talk, aimed at secondary aged students (most suitable for KS3-5), will be informative and engaging, and there will be the opportunity to ask questions afterwards.

This virtual secondary school assembly talk will take place using MS Teams Live. The platform has safeguarding built-in to make it a safe online environment, especially for young people, including no webcams or microphones and a live Q&A function which is fully moderated.
