25th Anniversary of the First Science Jamboree and 1st Virtual Science Jamboree

The Science Jamboree began 25 years ago to provide an opportunity for Pfizer Scientists to work with pupils from schools in the East Kent area with the aim to inspire the young people to study science. The world has changed in so many ways since the first Jamboree and never more so than in the last 11 weeks.

When the government introduced lockdown, three months ago, we took the decision to continue to support and inspire learners by re-creating the Jamboree and thus following in the footsteps of the original concept. STEM Ambassadors and science consultants have been creative in kitchens, offices, homes and gardens and then filming their work in order to continue to support and inspire learners across the south east to bring you this ‘Virtual Science Jamboree’.

The Jamboree is a two-day event but with other learning on the timetable, you may wish to plan and spend longer over the experience. We have tried to ensure that everyday items are used and there are clear instructions to lead the students through the range of STEM and science activities.

We hope you enjoy this experience which has been supported by industry and wonderful individuals. Indeed without these collaborations, old and new, the event would not have been possible. Thanks go to everyone who has made this possible and we hope you, learners of all ages and perhaps their parents enjoy the event.

Note: This virtual event is no longer available but you can read about it in our reports section.
