The Institute of Engineering and Technology’s (IET) Faraday Challenge Days, are STEM activity days designed for Year 8 students in England and Wales, S1/S2 students in Scotland and Year 9 students in Northern Ireland.

They are held at schools, universities and institutions throughout the UK and give teams of students the opportunity to look at real world engineering challenges through, research, design and creating design prototypes.

This annual competition introduces students to engineering, inspiring them to consider an engineering career, while helping them develop skills for their future careers, including team working, problem solving and creative thinking.

The IET Faraday Challenge Days are free for UK schools to take part in and winners will gain a trophy for their school and a place on the national league table. Top teams will be invited to compete in the national final for a cash prize of up to £1000, to spend on STEM activities at their school.

The challenge starts in September 2023 and runs through to June 2024. Deadline for applications is Friday 28th April 2023
