King's Academy Lord Wilson, an SEMH school for boys near Southampton in Hampshire, educates students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school was thrilled to receive support from Engineering UK's Big Bang at Schools programme.
On July 17th, all students from Years 7 to 10 were treated to some engaging and interactive Science Magic, a show of things that look like magic but are really science and technology. Led by Ian from Do Science Ltd, the shows featured captivating displays on sound, electricity and robotics. Students also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at actual magic tricks, including rope cutting and the dove pan. The event was filled with laughter and amazement, leaving a lasting impression on everyone.
Following the four science sessions, students eagerly asked the Science Teacher questions such as, "Can we get a musical saw?" and "When will Ian be back to show us more science magic?” The enthusiasm and curiosity were evident, and both students and teachers were grateful for the wonderful experience.
King's Academy Lord Wilson school expressed its gratitude to EngineeringUK and The STEM Hub for making this event possible and looks forward to building on this success next year.
