Primary Engineer Grading Day a fun insight into our future Engineers

 April 07 2022 | SE England | Views: 857

On Thursday 7th April 2022, twenty-six STEM Ambassadors including members of The STEM Hub SE team sat around tables at Canterbury Christ Church University to grade entries to the Primary Engineers ‘If you were an engineer what would you do’ competition.

We were each given a pile of entries from a primary school to look at and mark the design idea with a Pass, Merit or Distinction. A lovely enthusiastic hum filled the room as STEM ambassadors discussed the creativity of the children’s designs with one another.

The quality of entries was phenomenal with ingenious ideas and solutions to problems, we didn’t even know existed, such as how to remove guinea pig hair from clothing, when your guinea pig has been on your knee! Many children also showed an understanding of global problems, such as a contraption for removing plastics from the ocean.

With such creativity and enthusiasm, the future of engineering looks very healthy, however this created a challenge for the STEM ambassadors deciding who should go into the next round of the competition.

We would like to thank all the STEM Ambassadors who took part on both Grading Days and hope you had as much fun as we did here at The STEM Hub.
