Watch the TedEd video and think about the following:

  • We use 35 billion barrels of oil each year – these are fossil fuels. In what ways to they cause damage to our environment?
  • List the three main types of renewable energy sources. Can you name the more unusual types?
  • What two factors reduce our ability to use more renewable energy?
  • Name the main purposes of electrical and liquid energy.
  • Why don’t we build all the solar panels we need to get all of our energy from the sun?
  • What are super conductors? Why are they difficult to use? Research super conductors…we need to discover one that works at room temperature!
  • Describe the limitations of battery power.

There are many discoveries needed to find a solution to the renewable energy issue. Perhaps you could contribute to this! Technology, economics and political problems lie within…could you come up with a solution?
