Making Moon Rocks

Health & Safety: This recipe needs lots of heat. Please make sure that you are working with an adult on this activity.

You will Need:

  • A Saucepan on the stovetop
  • A spoon to stir your mixture
  • A tray lined with baking paper to cool down your moon rocks
  • Golden syrup
  • 200g Caster sugar
  • 5 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda

What to Do:

  1. Melt the syrup and sugar together on a low heat.
  2. Keep stirring until the sugar is all meted, and then turn the heat up.
  3. Continue to stir until the mixture becomes bubbly and tawny brown in colour.
  4. Take the mixture off the heat and stir in the bicarbonate of soda.
  5. Pour your mixture onto a tray lined with baking paper and allow to cool and harden.
