Milk Magic

Milk Magic

  Primary | Materials | Views: 1331

You Will Need:

  • Milk
  • Food Colouring
  • Washing-Up Liquid
  • Cotton Buds

What to Do:

  1. Pour enough milk into a plate or tray to just over the surface.
  2. Place drops of food colouring onto the milk – you can use as many colours as you like. The more food colouring you add here, the more impressive the results will be!
  3. Dip a cotton bud into some washing-up liquid, then touch the cotton bud on the surface of the milk and wait for the magic to happen!

How does it work?

Milk is made up of minerals, proteins, and fats. Proteins and fats are susceptible to changes. When the dish soap is added to the milk, those molecules attach to the fat molecules in the milk.

Continue to use cotton buds and washing-up liquid until there is no more movement in the milk. When there is no more movement, all the fat molecules have been found.
