Paper Bridges
Secondary | Structures | Views: 3081
Research the three bridge types, look for models of each online: Arch, Beam and Suspension.
Challenge: Build a paper bridge that can support 1kg weight.
You will need:
- A tray of water to represent a body of water under your bridge.
- A4 paper
- Masking tape/Sellotape (only for fixing bridge parts together – not to stick your bridge to the tray!)
- Scissors
What to do:
- Go for it! Design the bridge of your choice, using only the materials provided, that allows a 1kg weight (like a bag of sugar) to stand upon it.
- You could create a set of rules to make it more challenging, for example: pillars cannot go into the water to support the bridge, the weight must be able to sit for a certain amount of time in the MIDDLE of the bridge.
