Congratulations to STEM Ambassador and Geologist Kerry Henderson from the Southeast region on winning the STEM Inspiration Awards, Highly Commended in the Outstanding STEM Ambassador Southeast region category. Further congratulations go to STEM ambassador Daniel Black, who also picked up a Highly Commended certification and pharmaceutical company Pfizer, who picked up the southeast regions Inspirational STEM Employer award.

The STEM Inspiration Awards celebrate the individuals, organisations and STEM clubs working to inspire young people in science, technology, engineering and maths. STEM learning look to recognise the initiatives which make a real impact, sparking enthusiasm for STEM subjects and paving the way for careers in STEM.  The awards are sponsored by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

Kerry has been a STEM ambassador since July 2017 and has completed over 250 volunteer hours. She has been an active member of the STEM ambassador community doing many workshops with schools, such as the Shake Rattle and Roll, a practical workshop on earthquakes and Tsunamis. Her famous rocks workshop has gained her the name among primary school children as the Rock Lady.

Dr Hellen Ward Director of The STEM Hub SE region nominated Kerry as she wished someone who gives so much to children to be honoured and recognised.

We hope Kerry will go on to continue inspiring and engaging children in the world of STEM for many more years to come!
