STEM in the Park Returns for Free Science-Fueled Fun

After a successful turnout of approximately 4,300 visitors in 2023, STEM In the Park is set to return to Memorial Gardens in Crawley on Saturday 18 May 2024. This beloved annual community affair promises a vibrant showcase of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities catered to young minds and families alike.

No bookings necessary; just show up and join us for this FREE event and dive into a plethora of STEM experiences. From captivating magic science demonstrations to a journey through space in a pop-up planetarium. Explore the mechanics behind a solar-powered car,  board a solar-powered STEM bus to conduct experiments, embark on a journey aboard a cutting-edge hydrogen-powered bus and partake in drone flying tutorials and interactive tabletop exhibits, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

STEM In the Park is designed to ignite a passion for STEM disciplines among young individuals, presenting the myriad career opportunities within these fields in an engaging and enjoyable manner. By instilling excitement for STEM from an early age, our exhibitors aim to demonstrate the inherent joy and fulfillment of pursuing a career in STEM-related sectors.

Visitors can take advantage and seize the opportunity to glean career insights and guidance from many local employers, educational institutions, professional bodies, STEM advocates, and educators offering invaluable insights into potential career paths within STEM, spanning aviation, construction, geoscience, healthcare, and beyond.

Councillor Atif Nawaz, Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development at Crawley Borough Council, said: "STEM in the Park is a fantastic, free event, and this year's line-up is as exciting as ever, showcasing a variety of inspiring resources. Louisa Venables, London Gatwick, said: “London Gatwick is so excited to sponsor and be part of STEM in the Park this year! As an airport, we are dedicated to inspiring younger generations and consequently run a full STEM programme on-site at the airport. STEM in the Park will provide a brilliant platform for us to reach local communities and hopefully generate a greater awareness and excitement about what’s on offer within the STEM industries.”

Furthermore, adjacent to the main event, at Crawley College attendees can partake in extended STEM activities including hands on fun with robots, games, virtual reality and more!  Explore their immersive environments and delve into the new Green Village, which showcases the latest advancements in sustainable technology. Housing an array of innovative and interactive spaces equipped with virtual and mixed reality technology, Crawley College stands at the forefront of training delivery across a range of subjects.
