Musical Glasses

You will Need:

  • A glass
  • Water
  • Enthusiasm!

Health and Safety: Make sure you seek permission from a parent/guardian before doing this experiment. Make sure you are careful when handling glass and try not to spill any water.

What to Do:

  1. Fill the glass about halfway with some water.
  2. Dip your finger in the water to wet it and run it around the rim of the glass. Can you hear anything?
  3. Follow the video to play Higher or Lower? Which glass will produce the highest pitch sound?
  4. Watch the cartoon in the video to show how this works!
  5. Find out some hacks to make this experiment work and watch the team make some music!
