  • Airport Planning refers to efficiently develop airports to meet the local and government goals. Key objective is to ensure effective use of airport resources to satisfy aviation demand but being financially feasible.

  For Airport Planner, you can do a:

  • foundation university degree in civil engineering or aerospace engineering
  • higher national certificate or diploma in engineering and then apply for a job at an aviation company
  • degree apprenticeship as an aviation company

  You can also do a:

  • foundation university degree in pretty much any subject, or same for collage. 
  • then you can be trained as a Project Manager on the job with some complementary studies such as PRINCE or APM (Association of Project Management)

  University:

  • 1 or 2 A levels, or equivalent, for a foundation degree or higher national diploma
  • 2 or 3 A levels, or equivalent, including maths

  College:

  • 1 or 2 A levels, a level 3 diploma or relevant experience for a level 4 or level 5 course

  Apprenticeship:

  • 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) and A levels, or equivalent, for a higher or degree apprenticeship

  • Maths knowledge
  • Engineering and design skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to use computers and key software packages (design software’s could be learnt on the job)
  • Good communication skills (verbal and writing)
