    • Highway Engineers are responsible for the design and implementation of road network projects. They are involved in road network maintenance, local road schemes designing, supervising construction teams, preparing tender contract documents, and administering risk assessments.
    • Project Management involves the organisation and structuring of project activities from inception to completion. Activities could be the construction of infrastructure or major and minor maintenance activities. The entire project and involved activities must be handled in a professional manner and completed within deadlines and budget.
    • Quality management ensures that an organisation, product, or service is consistent. It has four main components: quality planning, quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement. Quality management is focused not only on product and service quality, but also on the means to achieve it.

  • Did you know? »
    • The first motorway: The UK’s first motorway opened in 1958 and stretched for just eight miles – this was known as the M6 Preston Bypass. Although this was just a short stretch of motorway, within just a few years of this being built, motorways began stretching all over the country, making the foundations of the road network that our cars and logistics companies use today.
