The kent international Jamboree is a week long event for scouts and guides aged between 10 and 18 years. This year’s jamboree follows the theme of Our Celestial World with different zones named after the star signs of the zodiac.

This year’s event aimed to allow it’s visitors to:
“Discover Earth's place in the Universe and how it has over Millennia shaped our Beliefs, Cultures, Faiths, and World around us. Interact with our Universe, immerse yourself into the Celestial atmosphere with ambition and curiosity. Challenge your mind, discover yourself, realise your determination to achieve, your courage in adversity, find strength in your body and enlighten your soul!”

The STEM Hub ran science based activities in the Virgo Zone including Cosmic Bath Bombs, Moon Sand, Bubbles within Bubbles and Badge Making, all supported by a team of STEM ambassadors. Eleven enthusiastic STEM Ambassadors took part from diverse industries including engineering, The Lower Thames Crossing, IT systems and manufacturing.

STEM Ambassador Guy remarked that “all the participants engaged so well with the workshops STEM arranged. I enjoyed working with the students making bubble mixes and bath bombs, it is more difficult than it seems to make a successful bath bomb.”

Other STEM related activities that visitors could enjoy included, two planetariums, a demonstration of model diesel engines, map marking workshops and health simulation equipment.
