The Science and Engineering Day took place on Saturday 18th March 2023 at Southampton University, and is a free family-friendly day of STEM discovery and exploration, packed with hundreds of interactive activities, workshops, live shows, art performances and laboratory tours.

With the help of some local STEM Ambassadors, the Central South STEM Ambassador Hub put on a series of small hands-on activities including firing a rocket mouse from a milk bottle, and a bubble within a bubble challenge to engage and excite local Southampton children and adults.

More than 4,500 visitors moved around the festival site, and everyone seemed to have had an amazing time! Kyla Winter, of Canterbury Christ Church’s STEM Hub said ‘As a hub it was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the local community groups, teachers, other STEM professionals and of course the families that make up the Southampton community. I want to also thank the STEM ambassadors that volunteered for the stand, as they were exceptional. Their obvious enthusiasm was so infectious and really made the stand a success.’

With over 500 individual visitors to the stand this year, we hope to make a bigger splash with more activities and volunteers in 2024!

This event was supported and delivered by The Central South STEM Ambassador Hub and The STEM Hub, Canterbury Christ Church University.
