What’s My Line? Engineering Event

 May 23 2014 | Kent & Medway | Views: 1675

On Friday 23rd May at Canterbury Christ Church University Medway Campus, over 45 students from 5 schools in Kent and Medway competed to discover 8 STEM Ambassadors job titles. Dover Christ Church Academy, Folkestone Grammar School for Girls, Hartsdown Academy, Rochester Grammar School and Sandwich Technology School worked in teams of 2-4 students to quiz each STEM Ambassador for 5 minutes attempting to guess their engineering job title.

Each STEM Ambassador bought 3 props with them as clues. Students handled an array of objects including CAD drawings, hammers, tarmac samples, electrical wires nails, and nuts & bolts. While half the group competed to discover the STEM Ambassador’s job titles the other half enjoyed an informative presentation from a STEM Ambassador who is a Chartered Engineer and Senior Lecturer in Engineering at the University Of Greenwich.

At the end of the event the students gathered in the lecture theatre with biscuits and squash to hear the STEM Ambassador’s reveal who they were and what they do. Congratulations to the female students from Dover Christ Church Academy who won first prize - a 3D printed vase provided by one of Kent & Medway STEM’s Ambassadors.
